'Make the wind blow'

Ok, I don’t even know where to start really. Everything was normal right before I was about to enjoy my sunday home cooked dinner. After I finished preparing dinner, hubby and I were about to sit on our bed, watch some anime and enjoyed our food when the door bell rang. It was around 12am. My husband went to open the door and saw it was one of our next door neighbor who lives upstair. We don’t normally talk to our neighbors and the one we do say hi is a single middle aged man living next to us. Before tonight, I thought he was weird and freaky but I need to make apology to him. I was wrong.

So anyway, when my husband opened the door, he found our neighbor (middle age single woman) standing there mumbling about something regarding the stars. She was rather insistent on what she was saying and wanted to show my husband something out in the patio. Hubby told me she grabbed hold of his hand and that was when hubby called out to me and have me joined in on what I now called the adventure of our Sunday night.

When I walked to the door, I smelled alcohol and sure enough, she had a glass of beer in her hand and her cellphone in the other. Before I knew it, she barged into our house and walked across our living room as she commented ‘Hey..I smell ramen’. Well gee, let see, I was about to enjoy my dinner until you came. I was already not feeling comfortable as we do not know her that well and the last time she came knocking at our door, she was asking for some painkillers. Those were the only times we talked. She walked straight to our backyard and insisted us to join her. When she walked past where my blythe dolls were before we reached the patio, she said she did not like them and how they were all starring at her.

Once we hit the patio, she asked us to look up into the night sky. There were tiny shinning stars and some white stripes of clouds. She was saying and asking if we can see the milky way and this triangle thing in the sky. I did not see what she was talking about but I did felt bugs or ants crawling on my legs since I was wearing shorts. She was standing to the left of my husband and I to the right. After watching the sky for about 10 minutes, she said ‘Listen. If you listen you can hear it’. To be honest, I was thinking ‘Hm..I don’t know what you are hearing but I can hear my stomach growl’. She was saying how you can hear the wind and it talks to you. The next thing I know, she wanted us all to hold hands (yes, in our back patio) and chant the following words ‘make the wind blow’. She said if we asked it, the wind will blow the clouds away. I was more hoping for the wind to blow her drunkenness away. Amazing enough, there was a slight breeze so the leaves on the tree moved. I did not joined in on the chanting but hubby did while eying me with a look of ‘ok, now what do we do?’. When she was finally done, hubby said to her that we have an early day hinting she should be going. But that did not make her go. She stood out there for another 5 minutes but what seemed like an eternity to me.

When she finally came inside our house from the patio, she began searching for her ‘imaginary purse’. I swore to god she did not carry one. All she had when she came knocking was a glass of beer, which she still hold tightly in her hand, and her cellphone. The imaginary purse took about 10 minutes and then she asked hubby if we can walk her back home. We walked her upstairs and I saw her looking back to make sure we were there and she stumbled a bit to the top. When we reached the door to her house, there was a squared feet rest sofa piece in the front. She bent down, asked hubby to hold her glass of beer, and started to search with her hands on the floor. Even in the dark, I can see spider webs and dead leaves around the sofa piece. She said she felt worms on the floor and yet couldn’t find the damn key. She then reached up her right hand and tugged at the door knob. Guess what? The door was not lock. Fabulous.

What came to greet us was a short stubby brown wiener dog named Trudy and the mysterious grey cat that I always seen around. Now I know it belongs to her and the cat’s name is Willie. Both Trudy and Willie came peeking behind the door. Trudy was wagging its tail at us. I was thinking..I bet he is happy to finally see some ‘normal’ people. You would think the night ended here. Nope. She invited for us to go in. The house was dark and reeked of urine (probably from the pets) and alcohol. Other than that, I have to say it was nicely designed. To the left after the entrance door there was a little hallway that leads up to her bathroom/bath tub where I saw her shower head hanging loose into the tub. In front of us was her living room and to the side was a dinning table with 3 big piles of paper/books. Along side the right wall was a long shelf where she put books, picture frames and posters. She asked us to go into her patio and again to look up into the night sky. I was more into petting the dog and cat at this point. They seem to be the ones with right minds in that house anyway. The neighbor told us she is a writer but things hasn’t been going well (obviously). She then blurted out that she has no boyfriend and she feels lonely. Hubby probably felt bad for her and told her maybe she can joined us to go out for lunch sometimes. I don’t think that is ever going to happen. At this time, our other neighbor had their air conditioner on and the ac box was making rather loud noise. Of course this pissed her off...she said she hated that neighbor and that she so wanted to kill her in her sleep. Okay. Nice. It sure is great to live near to someone like this ain’t it?

When she finally decided it was time for us to go home, we walked past again her living room and she asked us to take this painting on her wall home with us. She said the painting makes her evil and she did not like it. I couldn’t not believe hubby followed her instruction and took the piece off the wall and home with us. You would think the night ended right there right? Nope.

After we were finally home, our dinner were cold. We ate and watched anime for half an hour and guess what! The door bell rang again! Good thing I already closed most of the lights in our house and lowered all curtains. We ignored the bell and I guess she must have left after a while. Hubby decided to hang the painting in our living room which made me uneasy throughout the whole night. I dreamt she made her way in and was standing next to us in our bed room. Gee, what a lovely Sunday.
